Soft washing is the cleaning process recommended by most insurers and the only method endorsed by ARMA (asphalt roof manufacturers association). Those black streaks on your roof shingles or tiles are most likely an algae called gloeocapsa magma, commonly referred to as black algae. In our hot humid climate, often mold, mildew and other bacteria are also eating away at your roof. This isn’t just aesthetic, it’s an infestation that can cut the life of your roof in half! With each service we perform, a solution of sodium hypochlorite and surfactant is custom mixed on site. Our mix is strong yet completely eco-friendly since sodium hypochlorite breaks down into nothing more than salt. Surfactant helps the solution dwell on our pitched roofs, while sodium hypochlorite eradicates algae, mold, mildew, and dirt.
